Wrestling Life Online is proud to announce that The Fabulous Rougeaus, brothers Jacques and Raymond Rougeau, will be inducted into the 2026 Wrestling Life Hall of Fame, celebrating their enduring legacy as an influential tag team and as pillars of Canada’s storied wrestling tradition.

Hailing from Montreal’s legendary wrestling lineage, the Rougeau Brothers rose to prominence in the late 1970s and early 1980s, captivating audiences with their athleticism, charisma and natural chemistry. Their rivalry with Ron and Jimmy Garvin became one of the most celebrated feuds in Canadian wrestling history, drawing close to 20,000 fans to the Montreal Forum for the feud’s climax and establishing the Rougeaus as major stars long before their international breakthrough with the WWF.

In 1986, Jacques and Raymond made their global mark after signing with Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Federation, where they became mainstays of the tag team division during wrestling’s golden era. Their battles with iconic teams such as The Hart Foundation, Demolition and The Dream Team helped to define a period of tag team wrestling that is fondly remembered by fans four decades later.

Although never officially recognised as WWF Tag Team Champions, on August 10, 1987 in Montreal, Raymond and Jacques defeated reigning champions The Hart Foundation in a house show to win the titles. However, as Jimmy Hart’s attempted interference backfired when the Rougeaus intercepted his megaphone and used it to secure the pinfall victory, the decision was later reversed and their title reign was never officially recognised: a moment that has since become a legendary “what if” in wrestling history.

The Fabulous Rougeaus: chemistry, creativity and connection

Beyond their success as a tandem, both brothers carved out strong individual legacies within the wrestling industry. As a singles competitor, ‘The Mountie’ Jacques Rougeau captured the WWF Intercontinental Championship in January 1992 by defeating Bret “Hitman” Hart, cementing his status as one of the era’s most hated heel performers, and alongside partner Carl Ouelett, became a three-time tag team champion with The Quebecers. In the decades since, Jacques has dedicated himself to developing the next generation of wrestlers, becoming a respected trainer and mentor whose influence continues to shape the industry.

Following his in-ring career, Raymond Rougeau transitioned into a successful second career, first becoming a prominent French-language wrestling commentator and later entering public service. In 2021, he was elected mayor of Rawdon, Quebec, further extending the Rougeau legacy beyond the squared circle and into Canadian civic life.

Ben Veal, founder of Wrestling Life Online and host of the Wrestling Life interview series, commented:

“The Fabulous Rougeaus represent the very best of tag team wrestling: their chemistry, creativity and connection with the audience was undeniable. They were ambassadors of Canadian wrestling on a global stage and pioneers of an era that shaped how tag team wrestling is remembered today. Honouring Jacques and Raymond in the 2026 Wrestling Life Hall of Fame is not only a celebration of their achievements inside the ring, but also of their family legacy and their lasting influence on generations of performers and fans.”

The Fabulous Rougeaus join an elite 2026 Wrestling Life Hall of Fame class that includes previously-announced inductees: Demolition’s Bill Eadie and Barry Darsow, Raven, Doug Williams, Angelina Love, Al Snow, Kronik’s Brian Adams and Bryan Clark, and veteran wrestling referee Earl Hebner.

Exclusive Hall of Fame induction episodes will be released across @wrestlinglifeonline’s digital platforms throughout 2026, including the ‘Wrestling Life with Ben Veal’ podcast series.
